The 84th Academy Awards - Red Carpet 2012
Yesterday I had the pleasure of going to The Oscars as a special guest blogger compliments to the JCPenney Fan Experience. I usually stay away from Hollywood on big event days because all streets are blocked off and it is hard to get around but this time around I figured it would be nice to try it out and see what all the hype is about. It was so much fun and i’m excited to share my adventure with you!
The day started with all of us guest bloggers meeting at the corner of Hollywood and Highland. We were then escorted by Academy Award staff members to the backstage/behind the bleachers area to get our credentials and an Oscars goodie bag. The JCPenney team had an awesome behind the scenes area set up with food, drinks, restrooms, hand washing stations, an Oscar photo wall, and a station to get your makeup and hair touched up by Sephora makeup artists if you wanted. I made sure to snag a picture by the Oscar photo wall, grab some food, then head to my bleacher seat to wait for the action to begin.
Around 1:00pm entertainment reporters, journalists, and photographers started to fill the red carpet. This is when we started seeing stars like Ryan Seacrest, Guiliana Rancic, Maria Menounos, and Mario Lopez. Around 3:00pm countless celebrities started to crowd up the carpet. Whenever we saw the photographers pull their cameras up and flashes started going off we knew someone had arrived. It was fun being around all the fans hearing them yell out statements like “Oh my gosh, there is Meryl Streep and Glenn Close!!” or “Look! Natalie Portman! She is gorgeous!” and “George Clooney is coming!!! He is so dreamy!” (Yes, I really heard someone say this!) The 2 1/2 hours of watching the talent arrive and strut their stuff on the carpet really flew by fast.
One of my favorite parts of the entire day was when George Clooney jumped around the ropes, came over to the fan section to shake everyones hands and sign autographs. He had a giant smile on his face while doing it too. It was great to see that he was just excited to be there. Another very cool part about the entire experience was seeing all of the fashions, hair and makeup up close. I really wish I could of jumped down on that red carpet and get all fancied up just like all of them! I am definitely looking forward to Oscars 2013!
*The Oscar Goodie bag contained an Academy Awards hat and t-shirt, diet coke, chips, candy, chap stick, sunscreen, Academy Awards poster, and more!!
